mobile boarding pass at austin airport

Continental Airlines has expanded its paperless boarding pass pilot program to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Mobile Pass service allows passengers to receive boarding passes electronically on their cell phones or PDAs, which can then be scanned by Transportation Security Administration(TSA)security officers at the checkpoint.

Each paperless boarding pass displays a two-dimensional bar code along with passenger and flight information that will identify the traveler. TSA travel document checkers will use handheld scanners to validate the authenticity of the bar code.

American Airlines has expanded its mobile boarding pass service to 19 additional U.S. airports.
Now you can have your boarding pass sent directly to your mobile phone. This great new feature of our Online Check-In service makes travelling so much easier. No more pieces of paper or last minute panic at the airport, simply use our Online Check - In and have your boarding pass sent direct to your mobile. It's as easy as that!

Once you receive your boarding pass save it, then when you reach the airport, simply scan the onscreen barcode at the security checkpoints and during boarding. Forget about printing, you'll be amazed how quick, easy and efficient this really is.

What's more this service is currently available at many American Airlines locations in the USA with many more coming on stream each month. So no more searching for a printer when you want to check in online for your
return flights.

is there usb port in airasia x plane

AirAsia X fly airbus a330 and airbus a340 plane form melbourne Gold Coast to KUL,Only Premium flatbed seats have in-seat power sockets. Economy seats do not have in-seat entertainment or USB slots anymore.according to airasia blog they are looking at solutions for 'portable power' and next-generation 'portable entertainment'.

The portable media players do not have capability of charging other devices.

I would recommend getting your own portable power. Check out the PowerGorilla or PowerMonkey from www.powertraveller.com

I would really appreciate if airasia x could bring back the USB port in one way or another. I am flying from PER to KUL next tuesday and looking forward in using my iphone as my main form of entertainment during the flight. However after reading through the article and comments I now find myself hugely dissapointed and whats more I would not have enough time to get a battery pack in time for tuesday flight. Thou, the changes to the Premium seats are awesome

airasia land at haneda international terminal

Malaysia-based AirAsia become the first budget airline to land to Tokyo Haneda Airport international terminal.

AirAsia X offer three flights per week initially between Kuala Lumpur and Haneda Airport in the capital's Ota Ward, at fares possibly less than half those of regular airlines,

Serving the route is an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with a 2-class configuration comprising of Premier Class and Economy Class. The 3-weekly flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays under the midnight slots, departing Haneda at 23:45pm just before midnight, and scheduled to arrive Kuala Lumpur at around 6:30am in the morning. The return flight will depart Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon at 14:40pm and will arrive Haneda at 22:30pm.

AirAsia currently offers flights to about 20 countries. AirAsia X went into operation in 2007 to serve point-to-point, long-haul business destinations.

In 2009, the company posted the equivalent of 84.5 billion yen ($1 billion) in sales and carried 14.25 million passengers. The Tokyo-based financial services group Orix Corp. has a stake of more than 10 percent in AirAsia X.

The entry of AirAsia X could intensify price competition among Japanese and foreign airlines serving Haneda Airport.

During the current season, Japan Airlines Corp. and All Nippon Airways Co. charge about 60,000 yen to 70,000 yen for a round trip on the low end of regular fares between Narita International Airport in Chiba Prefecture and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. AirAsia could offer a price less than half of that.

AirAsia, which had considered a route to Ibaraki Airport before its opening in March, apparently has its eye on serving other Japanese airports as well.

Currently, six foreign low-cost carriers fly into Japanese airports.

Haneda Airport is in the process of transforming itself into an international hub.Airlines in Malaysia were granted slots for seven flights a week to the airport. National carrier Malaysia Airlines has already taken up three of them.

Malaysia Airlines begin flights between Kota Kinabalu, a resort on Borneo Island, and Haneda three times a week.

“This service is the first new long haul route for Air France in six years. So, we are extremely pleased that Orlando International was chosen as a destination which will benefit our local residents and businesses. It will also attract more passengers to the Central Florida region from around the world,” said Phil Brown, Executive Director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

“The launch of the Orlando-Paris service is part of our ambition to offer our customers an ever-increasing number of destinations and flights between Europe and the United States. The trans-Atlantic joint venture, which combines Air France, KLM, Alitalia and Delta’s strengths, is the perfect tool to reach this target”, stated Bruno Matheu, Air France Chief Commercial Officer.

Avianca airline Bogota to MCO Florida flights

Avianca, a member of the Avianca / TACA Alliance plans to start direct flights between Orlando Airport (MCO) and Bogota Airport (BOG) beginning this summer. The new service will feature the A319 aircraft, which seats 120 passengers and will connect the two destinations with service four times per week.

Avianca’s addition of Orlando brings to five the total number of U.S. cities served by the airline including New York, Miami, Washington D.C. and Ft. Lauderdale. With Avianca, passengers will have access to numerous Central and South American markets including Caracas, Lima, Quito, Guayaquil, Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, Cali, Cartagena, and Medellin just to name a few.

“The addition of Avianca to Orlando International Airport further demonstrates the global popularity of the Central Florida market. Bringing this expanded international air service to our area is a collaborative effort with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and our community partners including the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Visit Orlando, Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Orlando Resorts”, says Cesar E. Calvet, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

With approximately 70,500 Colombian’s living in the MCO catchment area, the Colombian demographic is the third largest Hispanic/Latino population in the Central Florida area behind Puerto Rican and Mexican.

Orlando International Airport has more non-stop domestic service than any other airport in Florida and has service to 25 non-stop international destinations.

airlines charge obese passenger not fitting in seats

obese Passengers may be required to buy an extra plane tickets on us airways flights if they cannot fit into a single seat in their ticketed cabin, and/or unable to properly buckle their seatbelt using a single seatbelt extender (available upon request), and/or unable to lower both armrests without encroaching upon the adjacent seat or another customer.

overweight United Airlines passengers who are not able to safely and comfortably fit in a single seat are required to purchase an additional seat for each leg of their itinerary.
The second seat may be purchased for the same fare as the original seat, provided it is purchased at the same time. A customer who does not purchase an extra seat in advance may be required to do so on the day of departure for the fare level available on the day of departure.
american airlines and Southwest, like many other US airlines, has had its stringent policy on overweight passengers in place for some time.

European carriers are less clear on the issue: Ryanair, Lufthansa and Jet 2 have no specific policy in place regarding obese passengers, preferring to examine each case on it’s merit.

Airlines says that 90 percent of the complaints received in one year came from travelers angry that their seat space was violated by fellow passengers. Perhaps the complaints to the airlines about passengers encroaching on personal space should be directed at airlines for having small seats. All Boeing jets in use have 17” wide seats in coach. That is limited space for all passengers. (Airbus jets have 18” seats, Embraer 190 jets have 18.2” seats, and first-class seats can be as wide as 20.5 inches. But, the majority of airlines fly jets with only 17” wide seats).
The airline policy for customers requiring extra seating penalizes a significant number of passengers because of their weight. Though the size of airline seats is not easy to change, airlines can take steps to avoid adding insult to injury by eliminating the humiliation, confusion and neglect passengers feel.

dot Presses interim expense for delayed luggage

Many airlines may be violating federal rules on reimbursing travelers for expenses when baggage is lost, delayed or damaged on domestic flights, and the federal government is finally cracking down to help consumers.

The Department of Transportation issued fine against Spirit Airlines for a laundry list of complaints, which also included denial of interim expenses for delayed baggage in violation of DOT statutes.

The Department had received complaints that airlines had in some cases limited the interim expense reimbursement for delayed luggage to passengers traveling only on the outbound portion of roundtrip flights, only after bags had been missing for more than 24 hours, or had limited the amount of interim expense to less than $3,300. In the letter, the DOT advises that carriers must “remain willing to cover all reasonable, actual, and verifiable expenses related to baggage loss, damage, or delay”.
"Travelers should not have to pay for toiletries or other necessities while they wait for baggage misplaced by airlines," Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in a statement. "We expect airlines to comply with all of our regulations and will take enforcement action if they do not."

Continental said its interim expense reimbursement to travelers for delayed or lost luggage tops out at $200—$50 a day for four days after a 24-hour waiting period. United says it will pay $50 to $100 a day. AirTran Airways said it had a limit of $25 a day for three days.US Airways Group Inc. has a less-generous limit of $25 a day for up to three days.

Alaska Airlines says it doesn't provide interim expenses to passengers for baggage delayed or lost because of bad weather or air-traffic-control problems. When it does pay, Alaska limits its liability to $25 for the first day a bag is missing, then ups that to $50 a day for the next four days.

Allegiant, a unit of Allegiant Travel Co., says it pays $25 a day for four days, but that only begins 24 hours after a bag has gone missing. Hawaiian, a unit of Hawaiian Holdings Inc., limits payments to $30 a day for three days. JetBlue Airways Corp. says its "standard" payment is $25 per day, but like other airlines it considers higher amounts on a case-by-case basis.

qatar airways fly to Baku Azerbaijan

Qatar Airways announced a further expansion of its international route network with Uganda, Azerbaijan and Georgia joining its network served direct from the airline’s Doha hub.

effective November 30, Qatar Airways expands into Central Asia introducing daily non-stop flights to Baku which continue onto Tbilisi, the capital cities of Azerbaijan and Georgia respectively.

The Baku doha routes will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft in a two-class configuration of 12 seats in Business Class and 132 in Economy.

Today’s announcement comes as the Doha-based carrier prepares for a busy few months ahead with the launch of scheduled flights to Shiraz, Venice and Montreal in June; Kolkata (Calcutta) in July; Sofia in September and Oslo in October.

Qatar Airways will be the only full-service Gulf carrier to fly to Baku, becoming a natural fit for the airline linking up with the State of Qatar, the energy capital of the Middle East. Baku’s largest industry is petroleum. Located on the Caspian Sea, the walled city of Baku has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In January this year, the airline embarked on the first phase of its 2011 expansion programme launching flights to Bucharest, Budapest and Brussels during a single month alone. All three of these European routes had little or no capacity from the Middle East and their launch fitted nicely into our set strategy, explained Al Baker.

Volaris Fresno to Guadalajara direct flights

Mexican budget airlines Volaris extend their flight offerings between the city of Guadalajara in Jalisco and Fresno, California. The route will now be served by one daily flight, instead of the original 4 flights per week that were recently announced. The route is inaugurated on April 14th.

travelers may book flights to this US destination in schedules as follows: Departing Guadalajara at 21:15 hrs. arriving in Fresno, California at 23:05 hrs. Departing Fresno, California at 01:00 hrs., arriving in Guadalajara at 06:30 hrs.

travelers can book their travel through any of the authorized Volaris sales channels, including http://www.volaris.mx, our Call Center at 01-800-122-8000 and authorized travel agencies.

The extension of flight frequencies is yet another effort set forth by Volaris to consolidate their international strategy and ultimately benefit the carrier’s client base.
With the Fresno route, Volaris now flies to 31 different destinations with 48 routes reached by more than 130 daily flights, contributing to the growing commercial and tourism exchanges between these locations, also consolidating the business market. The flight will open doors for Mexican nationals who live and work in Fresno and seek to travel to the other side of the border.

Air India direct flight Kanpur to Kolkata

Air India introduced direct flight from Kanpur’s Chakeri Airport to Kolkata in its sustained efforts to strengthen connectivity between major cities of the country. Air travellers from Kanpur will now have a non-stop service to Kolkata eliminating the need to travel to Lucknow or any other city for connecting to the West Bengal capital and gateway to north-east.

Air India is also offering special fares for the flight which will further help in promoting the sector and bring it close to the metros of Delhi and Kolkata.
The regional sector is being considered as the important aspect that would add to the contribution of growth in India's aviation industry as these cities require connectivity to major metros. The Delhi-Kolkata direct flight air fare is Rs 6,000 where as Air India would be offering cheap fares at Rs 4,000 on the Delhi-Kanpur-Kolkata route and passenger could save enough money.

The flight will be operated by Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India with a 70 seater CRJ-700 jet aircraft. The new flight AI 9801/AI9802 will be operated on all days except Sundays on the route Delhi-Kanpur-Kolkata and back.

The flight AI 9801 will leave Delhi at 1020 hrs and reach Kanpur at 1120 hrs, depart from Kanpur at 1150 hrs arriving Kolkata at 1320 hrs, The return flight AI 9802 will leave Kolkata at 1400 hrs reaching Kanpur at 1530 hrs, depart from Kanpur at 1600 hrs to arrive back at Delhi at 1700 hrs

chicago to tokyo AA and JAL Joint flights

Tokyo - Chicago ORD NRT and Dallas/Fort Worth

Chicago ohare airport, used often as a transit point to and from other parts in North America to Asia, is a key gateway from which both Japan Airlines and American operate to and from Japan. To enhance the customer experience, the two airlines have agreed to realign their flight schedules to maximize the benefits of co-locating at Chicago. By adjusting the schedule of Japan Airlines' tokyo Chicago flight to depart earlier in the day and moving the American Airlines flight later in the day, the number of possible connections that can be made to other parts of the U.S. within three hours of arrival into Chicago ORD increases from approximately 43 to 45 destinations. In addition, customers can now choose Japan Airlines for an earlier start in Chicago ohare or choose American for more time in Japan.

Adjustments to the schedule of American's domestic flights arriving into Chicago and the departure time of Japan Airlines' Chicago tokyo Narita flight allows customers on 44 flights from 42 points in North America to easily connect on Japan Airlines' Chicago-Narita flight within just two hours of arrival into Chicago. This is an increase of 22 flights and 20 destinations, allowing both airlines to capture greater travel demand. The reduced connection times and the increase in the number of possible connecting flights from American are expected to result in more customers transferring to Japan Airlines. In addition, eligible Japan Airlines customers are able to utilize American's Admirals Club Lounge in Terminal 3 at Chicago and this will become much more convenient for customers once Japan Airlines' planned relocation from Terminal 5 takes place.

American operates two flights from Dallas/Fort Worth to Tokyo's Narita Airport. here is the user review from flyertalk forum
I made my first purchase through Travelocity Top Secret Hotels this week. It worked out as I got the hotel I was expecting at a better rate than I found anyplace else, including Hotwire, which was offering the same hotel.

I got the Menlo Park Inn in Menlo Park, CA for $59.51 plus tax/fee.

TTSH doesn't offer as many hotels as Hotwire but what they have can be ID'ed with a high degree of confidence. TTSH rates each secret hotel 1-5 on eleven criteria (bed comfort, cleanliness, pool, etc). Those TTSH ratings come direct from Travelocity's regular listings, where the hotel's name is disclosed.

To ID a Travelocity Top Secret just note the eleven subratings, then look for a match in Travelocity retail. Travelocity makes it easy by displaying Retail and Secret listings under two tabs on the same page. That's much simpler than trying to ID Hotwire hotels where the "clues" come from TripAdvisor stats and IDs require toggling back and forth between two different websites.

TTSH transaction fees were lower than Hotwire's too, at least for my purchase. Don't know if that's always the case.

Travelocity: $59.51 + $6.67 tax/fee = $66.18

Hotwire: $59.00 + $12.86 tax/fee = $71.86

A $59 purchase on Priceline would have had tax/fee of $14.81 = $73.81. That's not an apples to apples comparison though, as the Menlo Park Inn might have been available for a lower bid price than $59, offsetting some or all of Priceline's usually higher transaction fee.
