Volaris flights San Jose guadalajara Mexico

Volaris Airlines launched direct service today between San José and Mexico with its first flight to Guadalajara, making San Jose the third US city in the Mexican carrier’s network.

Volaris is the first new airline starting service at SJC since Hawaiian Airlines launched its
Honolulu flight in October 2005. San José is the 25th airport in the Volaris network of routes serving Mexico and the United States.

The new flights are available for booking immediately through all Volaris distribution
channels. For information about Volaris, routes, and tickets, go to www.volaris.com.mx.

flight schedule new San Jose-Guadalajara service from Volaris:

Destination Departure time Arrival time
GDL-SJC 9:15 a.m. 11:25 a.m.
SJC-GDL 12:35 p.m. 6:30 p.m.

Major factors for selecting SJC to expand the Volaris network connecting Mexican
destinations cited by the new airline include the size and strength of the Mexican-American community in San Jose and the Bay Area, SJC’s pivotal location for Silicon Valley technology businesses, and the convenience and efficiency of the recently modernized airport.

“It’s not a coincidence that Volaris decided to enter the US-Mexico market by making
San José its third international destination,” said Beltranena. “We see a market with enormous potential, and we see the opportunity to make air travel between our countries, specifically between California and Mexico, more affordable and convenient.”

The airline will continue to operate the modern Airbus A330-200 airplane in a two-class seating configuration on the Bangkok route. The Business cabin has up to 24 seats that recline 160 degrees, while Economy features a maximum 259 seats.

The additional Bangkok service will continue to Vietnam with four of the flights heading onwards to the capital Hanoi and three onto Ho Chi Minh City.

Passengers originating in Thailand or Vietnam can also purchase tickets to fly between Bangkok and both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on Qatar Airways.

Beginning October 12, Qatar Airways introduces six-flights-a-week doha to Phuket via Kuala Lumpur. With the Bangkok flights, the airline’s Thai operations will step up from 21 to 27 flights a week across two destinations.

Qatar Airways has brought its Asian expansion plan into focus this year, adding three new destinations to its network in 2010 and boosting capacity and frequency across the entire region.

The travel market in Asia is experiencing significant growth and one which Al Baker stressed Qatar Airways was well placed to take advantage of.

“IATA statistics have passenger demand in the Asia Pacific region up over 10 per cent on the previous year. The timing of Qatar Airways’ expansion drive in Asia couldn’t be better to take advantage of this increase in traffic,” he added.

By 2013, Qatar Airways plans to serve 120 key business and leisure destinations worldwide with a modern fleet of 120 aircraft. Today, the airline’s fleet stands at 88 aircraft, flying to 92 destinations across Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North and South America.

Qatar Airways is very committed to the Spanish market and recently localised its global website to offer increased customer convenience to Spanish customers. In addition to Barcelona, Qatar Airways has opened new routes to Ankara and Copenhagen and will also begin flying to Nice by end of 2010. Europe currently forms 20% of Qatar Airways global network with 20 destinations as of now.

After October 2010, Phuket and Nice will also be added to the Qatar Airways network.

Al Baker added: “With 14 flights a week between Spain and Qatar and onto a host of connecting international cities, we demonstrate the growing importance of bilateral ties between our two countries. Spain and the State of Qatar enjoy developing relations which are growing from strength to strength.”
