Lufthansa new first class on 747

Lufthansa set new standards in premium travel when it unveiled a new First Class cabin on its A380 flagship. Continuing the trend, from April to November, Lufthansa will completely revamp ten Boeing 747-400s, resulting in a quieter and more exclusive atmosphere in First Class, Whether on the ground or in-flight, passengers selecting a First Class travel experience will always find exceptional service from Lufthansa.

Lufthansa is entering new territory with its seating concept for the Boeing 747-400. Each of the eight individual seats will have an adjacent full-length, permanent lie-flat bed, which measures about 8 feet in length and features a top-quality mattress, guaranteeing first-class sleeping comfort. Each passenger in the new First Class cabin will thus not only have a seat but also a separate bed. Sound-absorbing curtains and sound-deadening insulation beneath the carpet will ensure that passengers enjoy the necessary peace and quiet.

As a hallmark of Lufthansa’s First Class service, top-of-the-range materials such as matt-brushed metal and scarred leather have been used throughout the cabin. Besides the interior design and fittings, the First Class standard includes comfort items such as temperature-regulating blankets and pillows and the amenity kit from Porsche Design containing cosmetic articles from La mer.

The Business and Economy Class cabins on the Boeing 747-400 are also being refurbished, including a revamped entrance area and new lavatories. In Economy Class, passengers can enjoy an individual entertainment system offering a wide range of feature films in as many as eight languages, popular TV series and fascinating documentaries. Selections also include on-screen service information about the flight, radio programs and music channels, and special children’s programs. Furthermore, thanks to an innovative redesign of the back rest, the new Economy Class seats provide two inches of additional personal space and legroom.
